Dear Readers,
This edition presents five articles covering a variety of timely and engaging theme, titled Reconstructing Female Subjectivity: Saudi Vision 2030 Amidst Wahhabi Orthodoxy and the Post-Oil Development Transformation Agenda; From Epic to Resistance: The Shahnameh as a Memory of Modern Iranian Civilization; The Influence of Geopolitical Awareness on Indonesian Students' Critical Attitudes in Egypt to the Israel-Palestine Conflict; Israel's Strategy Against the BDS Movement: Conflicting Narratives in the Israel-Palestine Conflict (2017-2019); and Turkey's Foreign Policy Against the Yekitiya Democrat Party in Northern Syria (2016-2019).
We hope that this edition enriches readers' understanding of the Middle East and inspires further academic discussion. We invite researchers and scholars to contribute original manuscripts exploring the region from a wide range of disciplinary perspectives, including politics, international relations, history, religion, and culture. Jurnal ICMES is published by the independent research institute, Indonesia Center for Middle East Studies (ICMES). This journal seeks to publish balanced writings that enlightens the public and provides appropriate information about the Middle East in various aspects ranging from politics, economics, military, culture, and history. It is hoped that through these studies the Indonesian public apprehends the Middle East issues not only about war, but also about the potentials of cooperation, the opportunity to build dialogue, the resistance to radicalism, and the vast of its cultures and history.
Jurnal ICMES publishes articles following a single-blind peer review mechanism to ensure the standards of its publications. This journal warmly welcomes contributions from scholars of related disciplines in Bahasa Indonesia and English and will be published in June and December.
Based on the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology Number 10/C/C3/DT.05.00/2025 dated March 21, 2025 concerning the Accreditation Ranking of Scientific Journals for Period I of 2025, the ICMES Journal is accredited with SINTA 5.
